Ice rain

#1

Freezing rain,

wipers on parked cars

stand straight up

#2

Rain Ping-Pong,

tiny rocks hammered

as they fall

#3

Crushed ice flies

Crusty glazes melt

Tires whine

WhimsyGizmo provided a Tuesday dVerse Poets Pub prompt that got me writing about today’s freezing rain. Under the heading ‘Muse Mixology’ she invited us to incorporate pub and drinking terms into poems on other topics.  For those in warmer climates, the windshield wipers in the first poem are raised to prevent them from freezing to the windshield. This works unless a high wind snaps them off…I’ll let you find the words related to drinking.

    1. Would be nice to have photos but I’d need better equipment and the skill to use it unfortunately…ice is subtle…and these observations are ‘hot off the press’…the rain and ice rain started in late afternoon and developed its multi variations such as smooth frozen snow, marble glazed car windows and jewel crushed ice snow (to name a few) into the night.

  1. We had similar weather here in Northern Ontario. The types of precipitation changing so quickly within a short period of time, but unlike you we got snow on top of that. You described your weather situation well. 🙂
